    I just watched this for the first time yesterday and cried I wasn’t even born when 9/11 happened I was born in 2004 but my brother who is 26 years old he kinda remembers 9/11 but he was only 4 years old when the attacks happened it made my brother cry that day only bc my brother is that kind of person where he hates people getting hurt and it made him sad but in the end we need to be strong and keep moving forward

    He is trying to move from "audience score" to "critic score" (if that makes sense) and his complete 180 on how he critiques movies just goes to show.... don't trust the critic score lol

    So now if he says nothing about a movie when he reviews it, we know he must have hated it. The less he says, the more we know about how awful it is. Also, if he is so above it all, why leave old things up? Jeremy Jahns is knowledgeable and authentic. Chris is so sanctimonious and bland. How do we know he even likes a movie now? If trying to be a filmmaker means he can’t give negative reviews, he could also be similarly compromised by trying to get his his foot in the door to give something a more positive review than the film warrants. It cuts HIM both ways

    7:04 may be early to mid 2017, it started when his studio turned blue. He went from super enthousiast (which I think with retrospect, was a persona kinda that he adopted) to more laid back , Mellow guy (which i think was the real him). I found that on an Old Q&a with John Flick(2013 ish), where ppl found him different from his channel. He said it was normal him, his a mellow guy.

    He explained a long time ago that he doesn't enjoy movie criticism...he wants to be a filmmaker. Have you all ever considered that the old Chris wasn't actually the real him. He needed to make content and revenue to fund his film projects. He got to a certain level of popularity and probably made a good amount of money so he doesn't need to pretend as much anymore. People are rarely who they seem to be, especially someone you know only through social media.

    • @FlorisDVijfde
      @FlorisDVijfde 6 дней назад

      That makes it even worse. Makes him a fraud from the beginning, never truly caring about the quality of his reviews. That said he definitely put more passion into his earlier reviews. You can not enjoy your work but still bother with minimum quality.

      @QueendomCome621 3 дня назад

    thing is how are we going to get better things if there is no criticism? its not all about negativity, he did praise good movies as anyone should, but calling out flaws and calling out cashgrabs and lazyness is how the % of bad movies will go down, there is a reason top grossing movies are those and not madame-wed look alikes, wouldnt it be better if every movie was more like the top grossing and we improved further? Then you need to point out whats wrong and why so that it can be fixed

    Funny story about Days of Future Past, I was 13 when this movie came out and I told my mom that me and my dad were going to go see it, but then I told my dad, “Hey let’s go see A Million Ways to Die in the West instead.” Because I was a huge fan of Ted and Seth MacFarlane’s work and we saw that instead and I liked that movie then because well I was a teenager, but looking back now, I probably should’ve saw Days of Future Past instead 😂. But Days of Future Past is awesome. I know Bryan Singer X-Men movies may not be the most accurate to the characters, even a lot of people say First Class is the best X-Men movie when it comes to them as a team, which is understandable cause I personally really like First Class. But while Logan is IMO the best X-Men movie overall, Days of Future Past is the best ensemble one. We can say what we want about Singer as a person, but he did a great job. And yeah I agree, this should’ve been the last one of the main team films cause Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix… yikes 😬

    Solid review! Me personally I really enjoyed the documentary on how it got in depth with why Richie left. Me personally while Jon could have handled it better by not rushing that one album, Richie could have talked things out instead of just walking out the way he did but hey this stuff always happens in rock. Lennon and McCartney/Keith Richards and Mick Jagger/Stevie and Lindsey Buckingham come to mind. Even Jerry Cantrell and Layne Staley during the last days of Alice In Chains drifted apart from each other when the latter got deeper into his addictions. So that stuff happens. As for using that clip of Mike Shinoda talking about how Linkin Park changed their sound and how you applied it to Bon Jovi was genius cause the first ever album Mike purchased was Slippery When Wet and he actually compared LP’s success in the 2000s to what Jovi did in the 80s. And both bands reinvented themselves and got bashed for it. However what really got me was seeing Jon struggle with his vocals in recent years because this guy really wants to perform and to see him struggle with this reality makes me feel for him in a lot of ways. A part of me hopes he can fix his voice for one more tour so I can see the band one more time. Anyways great job with this review! Hopefully you can do more rock documentary reviews on ur channel soon. Highly recommend checking out Pearl Jam 20 and Foo Fighters Back and Forth cause those are great as well. Anyways great review, keep the faith and have a nice day! 😎😎

      I included the Mike Shinoda clip for you since I knew you'd get a kick out of it ;) As for the departure, I don't really see anyone being 100 percent blameless in that situation because there's always two sides to every story. Music artists are people too and their emotions/feelings will play a factor. Did NOT know that at all about Linkin Park's connection to Bon Jovi in that way but that's AMAZING! Jon's struggle with his voice even thinking about it is still heartbreaking and I really hope/pray that somehow he can make one more last hurrah. I'll check out those other two you mentioned especially since next month I'll be seeing the Foo Fighters in Hershey and you Keep the Faith as well!

    I disagree about one thing. I think him getting the email from the person who was reconsidering being a writer did not happen. The part where supposedly the email says “obviously you didn’t put much effort into it” is a dead giveaway that he made it up. That’s his justification for why the rewrite is bad, he even repeats it as himself later. Someone writing an email to him would not say that. That was him telling his critics: See? Being mean to me is hurting others, you better stop.

    One other thought. I wonder how much longer we are going to get Nostalgia Critic? I've noticed he doesn't do nearly the same level of production anymore, and he has some health problems now. Combine that with the his channel stalling out (Have absolutely no idea why that is) I think he is going to retire, or just do reviews by himself and downsize Channel Awesome. To this day his review of Fury Road is legendary. Man, getting old suxxxxxx. At least we still have Red Letter Media and Jahns. Although even Red letter media has veered away from the skit productions in recent months

    I'm a few months late, but you really nailed my feelings about Chris. You earned a new sub. This is gonna be a little long I was a huge fan of his. Started watching him in 2015. Chris was unique in that his childhood was very similar to mine. He was definitely someone I probably would have been friends with in middle and high school and we are the same age Chris to me was the staple I would always run to whenever a new movie I was excited about dropped. I would watch him and then Jeremy Jahns. I trusted Chris to give honest , unbiased reviews to movies. If Chris liked a movie there was a 99% chance I liked it too. That was all before 2020ish. As soon as Chris got serious about being a big movie director.... And also completely breaking away from his family I guess ? I tried to stay with him but I just couldn't... On top of him completely abandoning criticism, I noticed he was giving positive reviews to movies and shows that 2015, or 2017 Chris would never have given positive reviews to (for good reason , poorly made movies and shows). His audience also changed, now I know there is such a thing as toxic positivity... I unsubscribed... Occasionally I will try to watch him again, but he isn't the same. One last thing, I think it's important to know, you don't need to be a professional film maker to be a critic, just like you don't need to be a professional chef to know if a dish tastes good. Critics are important to the movie industry. Film makers, studios and producers take notice of the things critics and the audience likes and dislikes.

And if I wanted to be part of the RUclips drama, I would’ve been railing against him and other RUclipsrs a long time ago if you actually took the time to look at some of my content and realize that it’s not what I want here. The emoji movie intro was pure cringe. Chris has always been incredibly bland. He’s always been the movie reviewer for people who ‘want’ to be critics, instead of people who are capable of actually critiquing with actual insight. Ralph the movie maker ended up the same way. Was an ok critic for a while until he tried to make his own films and got completely throttled.

    Well said on this. Especially considering that I have family and friends in NYC, it’s realistic to see these guys help each other out after hearing stories about how regular citizens helped firefighters and police officers on 9/11. So when spidey is saved by the people there, it definitely shows that northeastern city “us against the world” mentality that comes from NYC, Philly or Boston. And great comparison between this and Star Wars cause I was actually thinking the same thing the other day coincidentally.

      No disrespect to other parts of the United States, but the East Coast especially the Northeast is where it’s at because we look out for our own over here and those three cities are the perfect trifecta.

    I'd highly recommend reading the June 27, 2004 LA Times article "Spider’s man" by Fred Schruers. It's easy to find with a web search. It explains how patriotic Sam Raimi is (he even had the flag from the end of the first Spider-Man movie taken down after filming and hung on the wall behind his desk), and includes some very interesting quotes from him. In a nutshell, the flags weren't there due to studio interference or anything like that. They were an expression of Sam Raimi's own feelings of patriotism.

    Superman poses or is shown in front of an American flag and that's just dandy. Spider Man is seen in the same visual, and that's "hokey"... Make that one make sense...

      If this was Andrew Garfield or Tom Holland, I think people would’ve been silent on the topic, especially since in Homecoming Spider-Man poses in front of the flag. With Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man on the other hand, he tends to get the most criticism.

    Yeah, this is a nitpick that’s overblown. It makes sense why the American flag is in those films, but the way some people go on about it is annoying. Great video Joe, I hope you’re doing well. Take care!

      Same for you, Jared! I feel like a lot of people get annoyed whenever they see the American flag front and center in fiction and yeah, there are times where I can get really overdone but I think it’s perfectly fine otherwise especially here. Then again it’s all gonna come down to personal opinion and preference.

      There's a June 27, 2004 LA Times article by Fred Schruers titled "Spider’s man" that explains why Sam Raimi puts the flags in the movies. It includes some very interesting quotes from him.

    To be honest, the whole complaint regarding the American flags in the Sam Raimi Spider-Man trilogy is such a huge nitpick! I personally love the imagery, and dare I say, it's iconic! And it doesn't come off as preachy as to me, it's Spider-Man's home, and New York is one of the most famous states in the USA. And of course, the context regarding 9/11 and such give it more meaning to it. As always, great job!

      Thank you! 👍 There’s things in entertainment from the past that are related to whatever was going on it said time so it shouldn’t be a surprise that there’s going to be some imagery from a piece of fiction that came out around the time of a tragic event.

      @@JoeTufanoTheMovieGuy exactly. Plus, these moments are so brief that Doug (nothing against him) complaining about it seems strange to me. It's almost as if he's trying to find anything to complain about.
